Hello, I’m Charis Estelle

I live in a rural village in Greece, surrounded by mountains, native flora, orchids, and a variety of wildlife. Shyness has caused me much struggle throughout my life, and I sometimes find it difficult to express myself. So I try to interpret my emotions through art and writing.
Being here has given me so much inspiration; I love the rural way of life, the simple lifestyle, the beauty of the Mediterranean, the wildflowers, and discovering hidden gems in faraway places. Since childhood, nature has been my constant companion, a place where I feel at peace, contented, and cherished. I have created this website as a tribute to nature, designed to help you reconnect and expand your knowledge of the natural world.

My Work
My journey began with my love for nature, art, graphic design and photography. Since then, I have become a writer, hand-colourist of black & white photographs, ostrich egg painter, silk painter, and specialist in the Pelargonium species.
Nowadays, I find joy in creating silk art and writing about Endangered species, natural habitats, ecosystems, oceans, forests, flora, and how we can preserve them. The world’s species are valuable to me; I believe we must do more to protect them for the future.

My Home
Nestled at 500 metres in the Rethymno municipality of Agia Vassilios, my home village sits cradled by towering hills and mountains. Its name echoes the presence of the mulberry tree, likely due to the numerous mulberry trees in the area, including the one in our garden. The village is known for its Byzantine churches, medieval frescoes, and ancient fountains. From here, mountains stretch into the distance, framed by oak and ancient olive trees. Wildlife thrives; hedgehogs scurry, badgers and Cretan stone martens roam, and green lizards rustle among the wild orchids and scattered wildflowers in spring.
